While some people believe that cutting carbs is the key to weight loss, an overall calorie deficit is what actually drives it. The reason why some people see great results from cutting carbs isn't necessarily the result of the carbs themselves, but rather avoiding high-calorie foods which are also high-carb (e.g. desserts, processed snacks, soda). Additionally, reducing carbohydrate intake will cause some water loss, so the initial "weight" loss may seem appealing.
Carbs are important to maintain optimal energy levels and feel good throughout the day. Including good sources of carbs such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can be a part of your healthy diet for weight loss.
