It really depends on what works for you and your lifestyle. If fasted cardio helps you to lose weight more efficiently by reducing total calorie intake for the day, then that would be more of an indirect effect. Objectively though, we wouldn’t say that fasted cardio is better than non-fasted cardio, and vice versa. The important part is that you are doing it in general and being consistent! Think about your calorie intake and expenditure for the day as a whole in relation to your weight loss.
Ultimately, we would say to go by your preferences. If you simply like doing fasted cardio better, then go for it! Otherwise, you don’t have to do it fasted. A lot of people don’t like to exercise in a fasted state because they feel less energized and more tired/weak. If this applies to you, we would suggest eating something before your exercise/cardio.
Remember to think about the big picture of your weight loss in terms of calorie balance. Calories in and calories out for the day as a whole. Your calories in will be any calories you consume in the entire day, while calories out will be any calories that you use for the whole day between exercise and daily activity.
